Clausura

We had fine service for the closing of the seminary year. The Bishop, Judith, Rev. Allen Hill and Father David from Plano were present, too. Three students received certificates I and II- Nestor, Zoila, and Daniel. Check out the free guitarist!

Closing Ceremony

It was great to have both Allen Hill and David Roseberry down for the closing ceremony for the Seminary for this year. Pardon the red-eyes!

Local Support Team

I think everyone on the local support team enjoyed the evening meal at the Robertson´s. Juan and Vicky Ayala are the hosts at their hotel, Juan´s sister María translates for us, Tío José and Lupe help with transportation and Padre Juan Carlos and María do EVERYTHING with great enthusiasm! Without their support, hosting teams would be a whole lot harder. A little "thank you" meal boosted everyone´s moral and helped set the stage for the upcoming teams in 2007. Everyone wrote down the info on their calendars. COME ON TEAMS,WE´RE READY FOR YA!

Nani is Back!

One NEVER knows just what will happen when Sherry shows up! It was great to have her here when we had the little ones from Casa Hogar San José over. She is a tireless worker for the Casas. This time her son, Christopher, joined her adventure. Christopher had a great time with Padre Juan Carlos and the other kids!

Who Says Women are the Best Cooks!

Chefs Edgar and José discover stirring is hard work! Just what is "peanut butter" anyways?

Padre, How Do You Measure Ingredients?

We foreigners take so many things for granted. This is the first time for these kids to make cookies. Fun, but what a mess!

Holiday Activities

The teens from Casa Hogar Sagrada Familia spent a school holiday at the Robertson´s. The agenda included making peanut butter cookies, eating hamburgers, gifts of musical instruments for the Casa, and making GIANT soap bubbles.
The kids are looking forward to the holidays.

José and Edgar are going to work, maybe 3 days a week, for an auto mechanic during the holidays. This will give them a taste of that career path. Next year, Edgar, due to the revision of his birth certificate (it now says he´s 16 yrs. old) will go to Saturday school and learn a trade during the week. The legal system says that when he turns 18 he must move out and be on his own. He won´t have finished secondary school at that time. We´re considering what all that will mean for us and for his future. Keep him in your prayers. Since he had such a bad work experience as an 8-9 yr. old, he is fearful although he is interested in mechanics. Ron has tried to assure him that this is only provided he WANTS to explore this field. Please pray for Edgar´s peace and excitment in this venture.

Seminary Finishes Term

Our school year finishes today with the last exams. Tomorrow is the closing eucharist. This year Padre Ron has taught 20 classes including: Reformation Theology, Introductions to the Old and New Testaments, the Letters of Paul, Psalms, Anglicanism, Weddings and Funerals, Leading Alpha, Interior Healing, Apologetics, Liturgics, and Preaching. We have had a great group of students. More of them are college students with a bit more background than our first group. That makes Padre happy. Please pray that they will be able to finish their studies in the coming years. (It takes 4 years to cover the 40 classes required.)

We had a celebratory dinner at the Robertson´s home hosted by Vicki. Blessing on everyone´s exams today!

It´s a long way to Lima!

Road Trip

Ron and Vicki took a little road trip to Lima with Padre Juan Carlos, María, their son-Giancarlo, and Marías parents. The occasion was the ordination of Justo Maqque ( our cook´s husband) to the Diaconate. It was a great time and we saw a lot. We really need Justo´s help in trying to cover the 9 Sunday services in the area. With the stops to see the beach, various historical sites, it was a two day trip. Long enough to tire us all out.
