The "Buffalos" Small Group

This small group we started last year is still going strong. As we had an intensive seminary class this week, we did not meet. However last week we met at Padre Juan Carlos and Maria's home for the first time. Everyone enjoyed the study.

Padre Ian and Polly

Padre Ian Montgomery has just finished his class on Shaping the Church for Mission. It was a pleasure to have him here. Attending were both seminarians and laity from the congregation. We pray that as these parish leaders develop a broader understanding of a "network church" concept, they will inspire dynamic, involved congregations that are committed to the MISSION of the Church.

"It Curtains!" cried Father Ron

Well, it finally arrived. Time to launder the livingroom curtains. Vicki solemnly announced that fact to Padre. "So what's the problem?" he innocently asked? "What's the problem!" exclaimed Vicki. "These curtains are two story high!"

Thanks to Naty, we were able to get a maestro to bring his scaffolding out and take them down. While their being cleaned we'll just pretend the scaffolding isn't here. It shouldn't be more than a week and I'm sure our guests will understand, won't they?

Padre Ian and Polly Montgomery

We are delighted to have Padre Ian and his lovely wife Polly with us this week. Padre is teaching a course on Shaping the Church for Mission. We are enjoying getting to know them. During the daytime Vicki will show them the sights of the town and help them with shopping. Classes run from 5-7p.m. this week. Hopefully, the curtains will be back up and we can invite them for a meal one day! Welcome to the white city, Montgomerys!

Judge?? Who's the Judge????

Recently Vicki accompanied one of the San Lucas teachers to an event she had been invited to attend at another school. Vicki went along to provide a bit of fellowship for this new parishoner, Fanny, and return home in an hour or so. Upon arriving at the school, Vicki was informed she was to be part of a three person panel to judge 16 pep squads-just no one remembered to inform her of that fact. Fortunately, Vicki has done a lot of adjudication although not with Peruvian banners and signs! Needless to say, it was some time before she got home! Ra! Ra! Ra!

Trinity Sunday

Padre Ron was up for both the 8:30 and 10:30 services today. Vicki sang with choir at the second service and photographer at both. Padre preached about the three P's: Power(God the Father), Person(God the Son) and Presence(God the Holy Spirit). It seemed to go well and the choir did some new music, too.

AFTER...

Before.....

Mothers' Day (lesser known as PENTECOST)

We had quite a turn out for church on Pentecost. We had the bishop present and the AMAs group had made flowers for the mothers present. It was a good day.

Bishop and Judith Visit

Bishop Godfrey and Judith arrived today to be with us for Pentecost. San Lucas upper school was there with us to greet him . Bienvenidos!

Our Little Tamara

Our little Tamara is growing up so quickly. This year she is in first grade at San Lucas. She did a fine job in her class´s dance although her top kept coming untied and distracting her. Quite a cutie.

TV Stars

This group of preschoolers was featured on a local TV station this week. They had won a city wide competition for their dances and songs. Padre Juan Carlos was with them at the station and, thankfully, watching the monitor. He was able to get the Spanish title showing on our TV screens changed from the "angelic church" to the "Anglican church," so all ended well. These little ones are quite incredible- not to mention cute!!

Mothers´ Day at San Lucas

Vicki has been accompanying Bonnie to the Casas and working on English with one group of kids as Bonnnie works with another group. After the Mothers´Day event, off they went to San José.

Padre Marvin Helps out on Sunday

Padre Marvin has agreed to help out as needed on Sundays. That is a real help as it adds another person to the rotation. Many thanks!

Music Team

Vicki continues to branch out in her music ministry. She continues to sing harmonies and help the vocalists as well as play the flute to enrich our worship. Tonight she will lead the music team and play guitar for the service as Nestor is supposed to be "up front" with me for the Eucharist. Everyone really appreciates her willingness to help out!

Birthdays!

We have had another round of birthdays. We actually had 3 in one day. So, we left the house at noon, had two lunches and one dinner returning home about 10p.m. Great fun, but a LOT of food! Karola and Vicky Ayala(Juan's wife) were among the special day trio.

Cabanaconde

I thought you might be interested in seeing how the Church in Cabanaconde looks these days. I found this pic posted by Padre Alejandro's son. This church, San Felipe, is the result of much hard work by St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Frisco. Doesn't it look great??
