Patronal Festival at St. Lukes Mission

We had great fun participating in the St. Luke's celebrations. Each night there was a presentation, Vicki led music, there were prayers, and a snack. Padre Salvador organized a series of interesting topics. On the first night Padre Ron talked about the early growth of Christianity and the arrival of Anglicanism to South America and then to Arequipa. Vicki coordinated music to the nights' themes. It was good to support the mission with our presence. On the final night, Sat., Padre Alejandro did a slide show of the founding of San Lucas Mission and we had several of the founders present. Go, San Lucas!

Primera Piedra/Corner Stone

Wow! We had a great event! With our distinguished visitors, entertainment by the kids, goodies cooked by our own chefs Edgar and José, and led by our Bishop William. Project Hope is off to a great start! Hope it energizes all the "dogs" for the Run on the 24th!! Woof! Woof!

Keeping Track

Vicky and Juan Ayala's son, Juan Carlos, spent several months in the US learning English and working at a university. He was attending Christ Church Plano while there so this visit was good time for Bob and Susan to re-connect with him!

Deepening Relationships

It was fun, too, to have the opportunity to lunch with Sandy and Gloria, seminarian Phil from England, Cinde, Toni, and the Kerrs. Our brave Englishman ordered cuy (guinea pig).

Audit

On Sept. 28 we had our Diocesan audit involving Amigos del Peru accounts. I know now why I am NOT a financial person!! Toni Brown (the auditor) and Maria Andia (the Financial Administrator for Southern Peru)were patient and pleasant during the lenghty process. Fortunately, I just sat quietly and waited for 2 pair of puzzled eyes to look my direction and then I'd translate. Whew! They had to deal with the thousands of figures! Nevertheless, we did have some good laughs and enjoyed fellowship while Toni was here.
