CHOIR

Vicki rehearses each Saturday afternoon with the choir. Being a professional musician and having so many (errrrrr a FEW) years of experience in all aspects of church music, she has lots of expertise to offer should it be requested. There are lots of little things that could improve greatly our worship music. Please pray that in God's timing there will be opportunities to share that with our worship leaders. The Lord is enabling Vicki to exercise vocal gifts that have previously been overshadowed by instrumental skills. Of course, she is most at home when singing praise to our King!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

Richardo takes a turn at preaching for Evening Prayer and Ruth leads the Office. Often Padre Juan Carlos, Maria, Ron, or Vicki are present with ideas to help student improve their skills. We have seen a great jump in their confidence levels with so many opportunities to practice. Preaching is becoming more real to them.

SAINTS AUGUSTINE

We are getting ready for a new round of classes having just finished Liturgics and Overview of Church History. Next Ron will offer Overview of the New Testament and Anglicanism. When his other courses, Inner Healing and Alfa, end he will offer two more advanced classes-the Letters of Paul and one specifically on Romans. he is excited that two students will complete Certificate two this fall. They will have only 10 more classes to cover before graduation. There are a total of 40 courses in the seminary program that the bishop created. Good going, Nestor and Zoila. Get on the stick, Daniel, so you can catch up!!

WHAT'S YOUR NAME?

Vicki continues to teach English classes at the Academia at Cristo Redentor. She really enjoys the students and they enjoy her classes. They alway have a "deer in headlights" expression when she catches them off guard in church and greets them in English! In class they expect it, but elsewhere is another matter! Sometimes, with a big smile, she'll say, " How are you?" and get a response of, "My name's Walter." After a laugh, she will point out the critical word was "How," not "Who." Walter grins broadly and silently vows NOT to make that mistake again! Impishly, Ron will use English when he meets one of Vicki's students, too. That keeps them on their toes! They find the classes fun-and challenging!! We are considering offering some classes for others in the parish sometime.

Más ALFA

We have included some songs and one from a Spanish Purpose-Driven-Life CD. Everyone has enjoyed them. Next week I hope to have Vicki play the flute. Most of the participants have never heard her play as that door hasn't seemed to open. There is a wide age range attending-from 24 to 80!

ALFA

Another endeavor Ron and Vicki have going right now is Alpha which would be "Alfa" here. It is one of the seminary requirements and Ron has opened it up to include some of the AMA ladies of the church, too. That way there will be leaders ready to assist Padre Juan Carlos when he offers classes for the parish. It has been blessed by the Lord inspite of the attacks through technology!! (Always a vulnerable area for Ron!) We are excited with it. We have snacks and Vicki picks up flowers from the florist so it is really nice. The participants seem to really enjoy it. Keep it in your prayers for the next 7 weeks! Here are some pictures.

AMAs

We hosted Judith Godfrey yesterday as she was up here for a meeting of the ladies of the church, called "AMA." They were planning for their upcoming retreat. Also, it was a great brainstorming time for Vicki and Judith to discuss how the diocese will handle tall the communications and paperwork involved with receiving teams in the future. We will certainly miss Dan Caldwell's coordinating that in Lima!! Have a GREAT day.

Santa Catalina Convent

This is a favorite tourist spot. Dating from the 16th century, it is a place we love to take visitors. This is the first time they have opened it at night and so I tried to take some night shots. Our friends from Virginia enjoyed it and it was refreshing after a day of sun and hard work.

Well, someones gotta feed um!! Vicki and Maria fixed the lunches on site for the Virginia team since the site was rather difficult to access.
Of course there were only 10 on the team....however, we had the chuch members that were helping, the neighbors who helped and there were always several that looked hungry, too! It was a great time!

Vicki Checks Thing Out....

Vicki was checking things out before the Virginia team arrived. Bet you can guess what she is sitting on! Planning to have the tools, supplies, wood, water, electrical wire and connections ready for the the team takes patience and persistence. While Vicki works with the team, Ron works with the Casas. Nothing is a one step operation here. Please pray for God's PATIENCE, CHARITY, and LOVE to be seen in our ministry here. We thank our friends who remind us for WHOM we are working!! Give it up, Ron. Remember you're not in charge! HE is.

Rock Walls

Well, how else can ya build'um??? Our Peruvian sisters really KNOW hard labor just as much as the guys do! It will take about $10,000 to build the wall around our 6300 square meters of property, so we must be content for the present with just piling up stones to mark the boundaries. This will at least make everyone aware that we know our territory.

Logistics

Because we have helpers from the church, the number for lunches has varied from 15 to 40. A real challenge for Vicki! As it is a difficult drive up to the site, the team stays all day only returning at the end of the day. We've tried to bring in all the "comforts" of home....
Not sure the guys were as impressed as the gals....don't go there!!!!!

Virginia Team Arrives

This week our biggest project is working with the Virginia team from Christ Church that arrived Sunday. Vicki has been getting ready and working on details for what seems forever! This team is a team for Cristo Redentor so Padre Juan Carlos and Maria are spearheading it. The team will do VBS classes, games, crafts, in the morning and then build a play area for the kids in the afternoon.

Off to the Picnic

Last Friday we went with the Casas kids to picnic nearby. A sort of goodbye from Joel who will be leaving this week. Everyone had a great time. Vicki watched the kids on the slides, Ron threw frisbees, and the kids went wild and had a great time!
