She's BACK!

Without a hitch, Vicki arrived in Arequipa Thursday morning. A bit tired after a sprint across the Miami airport after her flight arrived there an hour late. In Lima came the shock......her bags came THROUGH in the first half dozen sent in. So, she didn't have to worry about making the connection to Arequipa. The Lord is good! She did not arrive empty handed, though. Arriving on the same flight were Mavis & Gail from Lima to do workshops for San Lucas. They will be staying with us through the weekend.

To celebrate Vicki's return we spend Friday morning updating our residency status by making two trips to Immigration and one to the Banco Nacional to pay a special fee. The day is georgeous, sunny, and about 72 degrees. Welcome home, Sweetie!

Christian Education Class a BIG Success!

Wow! Parishoners were really excited with the Christian Ecucation class. Lots of information on how to work with young children was soaked up by the participants. The ideas as well as the materials are just super. A first class job done by our friends at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Dallas.

Ron had busy next week with the bishop returning again. Then Vicki made a quick trip to the States to be with our son-in-law's family upon the death of Brian's dad, David. He will be greatly missed- a quiet guy hiding a great sense of humor! Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord. And may light perpetual shine upon him. AMEN. +

Finally, Ron made a trip to Lima for a diocesan meeting. It was a challenge as there was supposed to be a transportation strike here in Arequipa which would have made getting to and from the airport a real challenge and possible a little dangerous. Thanks to God's grace, it has been postponed. Here is a pic of some of our Lima clergy taken on the bishop's birthday last week.

St. Matthew's Team Arrives

We were so excited to see the St. Matthew's team arrive on Sunday. The plane was a few hours late, of course, but they were all excited. We took them to San Bernabé mission for an evening Eucharist after which the enjoyed a soup called¨"adobo" before returning to the hotel. We have had a fantastic group of volunteers helping with the painting at the church. The whole sanctuary and entance has been done so we should have it set up for the Eucharist on Wed. evening. Next, the classrooms....to be done in "Capriccio" style! Stay tuned.....
